Kaspar Holten's 2014 production of Don Giovanni was one of the undisputed highlights of his time at the Royal Opera House in London – with designer Es Devlin's spectacular revolving "mind palace" providing an endlessly rich visual framework for a Don Giovanni that probes deep into its characters' psychology and motivation. Erwin Schrott sings the role of Mozart and Da Ponte's great seducer, but the whole cast is just as charismatic, with Louise Alder as Zerlina, Daniel Behle as Don Ottavio and Malin Byström as a touching Donna Anna. Hartmut Haenchen conducts this spirited revival from 2019.
