Album insights
Albrecht Mayer's remarkable album "Tesori d'Italia" is now available on Deutsche Grammophon, featuring baroque oboe concertos by Vivaldi, Sammartini, Elmi, and Ristori. The selection includes Vivaldi's well-known Oboe Concerto in C major, along with two world premiere recordings and three concerts that have only been recorded once before. Among the new additions to the catalog are Elmi's Concerto in A minor and Sammartini's Concerto in C major, Op. 8, No. 4. These pieces selected for the album represent Mayer's extensive musical exploration across Europe. Teaming up with I Musici di Roma, one of Italy's finest chamber orchestras, the exceptional oboist recorded these Italian treasures in Rome. Reflecting on the process, Mayer expressed, "It was incredibly rewarding to delve into the history of these works. They resonated throughout Europe, contributing significantly to the cultural diversity and essence of life."
