Album insights

Celebrating his 90th birthday and 25 years as Composer-in-residence at the Verbier Festival in 2022, Rodion Shchedrin, widely regarded as the most prolific Russian composer of his generation, showcases a remarkable collection of recordings that reflects a partnership steeped in mutual creative inspiration. Initially visiting Verbier in 1997, Shchedrin witnessed his new Violin Concerto performed by Maxim Vengerov and Antonio Pappano. Since then, embraced by the festival's eminent soloists, he has been an esteemed collaborator, finding artistic nurture and crafting many of his new compositions amidst the scenic Swiss Alps.
